Creechwood 0 Emsworth Town Reserves 3

The Portsmouth Divisional FA Cup “Plate” Final was played at AFC Portchesters Wicor Rec with an attendance of 200+ who watched Creechwood take on the Oystermen for silverware. Emsworth beat Fulcrum Reserves, ACFC, Gosport Spartans and Sands United to make the final. Creechwood who play a higher division seemed to be a big test for our Reserves.

Emsworth came out the blocks early and go on top of the match with multiple chances early on. Emsworth who were creating lots of chances managed to earn themselves a corner. Taken low and hard into the box, cleared by Creechwood but only to land right into the feet of captain Luke Woolcombe who smashed it home from outside the penalty area to put the Oystermen 1-0 ahead. A couple chances before the half time break as Creechwood started to get a foot on the ball. Starting to create chances themselves, but half time whistle was blown and Emsworth went in 1-0 ahead.

Into the second half Emsworth came out the blocks once again strong. Not long into the second half a set piece by Luke Woolcombe swung in for Luke Jarvis to see in. Emsworth 2-0 up and at this point in cruise control. Creechwood struggling to make much use of their possession at this point but an aggressive Emsworth managed to bully their way back onto the ball and see top scorer Ben Sharp slide it home and seal it for Emsworth Town Reserves.

Man of the Match Luke Woolcombe with a goal and two assists for his team on the day. Well done to all involved. Brilliant performance from the Oystermen which sees the clubs 3rd cup victory in 2 seasons.
