Yarmouth Rowing Club on the water

On Sunday 10th May, Yarmouth Gig Rowing Club will be taking part in this year’s Walk the Wight – all in support of Mountbatten Hospice.

But they’re not doing it the easy way.

Going the extra mile

Led by team captain and Blue Bell wine raconteur Alistair Gibson, the team will be carrying a gig rowing oar the entire route across the Island, from Bembridge to Alum Bay.

It’s a simple idea, but a tough challenge – and a great way to stand out while supporting a cause that means a lot to so many.

Why it matters

Mountbatten provides vital care and support to patients and families across the Isle of Wight, but it comes at a cost. Over £25,000 is needed every day to keep services running, but only a portion of this is NHS-funded. The rest relies on fundraising and donations. That support helps fund round-the-clock care, bereavement services, and a range of therapies for those who need it most.

Show your support

If you’re able to, consider supporting the team – whether that’s through a donation or simply helping spread the word.

Every bit helps, and it all goes towards making sure no one has to face things alone.
